What Is It, In Plain Words?

Lookout is a free Google app for Android phones that reads text and labels aloud and describes what the camera sees.

It was made for blind and low-vision people, and is handy for anyone who struggles with small print.

What You Can Use It For

  • Post. Hear a letter read aloud.
  • Food packets. Scan a barcode or read a label.
  • Money. Identify banknotes in supported currencies.

Getting Started Step By Step

On An Android Phone

  1. Open Google Play and search for Lookout, made by Google LLC.
  2. Open it and allow camera access.
  3. Choose a mode, such as Text, Documents, Food labels or Images.
  4. Point the camera and listen.
