ChatGPT Voice Gets New Voices And More Natural Accents
15 Oct 2026 · Global
OpenAI has started rolling out an update to ChatGPT's spoken conversation feature, with more natural-sounding accents and a choice of new voices.
The update, announced on 15 October, brings a new version of the technology behind ChatGPT Voice, the feature that lets you talk to ChatGPT out loud instead of typing. OpenAI says it sounds more natural across languages and uses a wider range of short phrases, such as letting you know when it's searching for something.
There are also new voices, including options for French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Mexican Spanish, plus a new English voice called Bubbie. OpenAI says the voices you see may vary depending on where you live and your account.
How To Choose A Voice
In the ChatGPT app, open Settings, then Voice, and pick the voice you like. Updates roll out gradually, so you may not see the new options straight away.
Why It Matters
Talking can be much easier than typing on a small phone screen, especially if you have arthritis or trouble seeing the keyboard. A clearer, more natural voice makes the answers easier to follow. As always, ChatGPT can make mistakes, so check anything important.
