What Is It, In Plain Words?
Babbel is a language-learning app with short, expert-written lessons. Its AI feature, Babbel Speak, lets you practise real conversations out loud with an AI partner, at your own pace, in Spanish, French, German or Italian (and more as Babbel adds them).
Babbel Speak is in beta. Babbel's own page says registered users can try sample lessons and conversation practice free, and that Babbel may change or later charge for the feature. Full lessons across Babbel's languages need a subscription. Lessons are built for everyday situations such as ordering coffee, greeting a neighbour or travelling.
What You Can Use It For
- Speaking before a trip. Practise ordering food or asking for directions in the Speak tab, then use those phrases on holiday.
- Family abroad. Build confidence for a short chat with relatives who speak another language, without the pressure of a live person judging you.
- Short daily lessons. Do a few minutes of vocabulary and grammar, then switch to Babbel Speak to say the sentences out loud.
